NEFT/RTGS Charges for Online Transfers

Your bank is charging you for NEFT or RTGS transfers initiated through internet banking or mobile banking. RBI explicitly removed all charges on these digital transfers from March 2020.

All NEFT and RTGS transactions initiated by customers through online channels (internet banking, mobile banking) are free — RBI/2019-20/142.

Banks were directed to pass this benefit to customers from June 2019 (NEFT) and March 2020 (RTGS).

Only branch-initiated NEFT/RTGS may still carry a nominal charge — online is mandatorily free.
